Fernando de Noronha Arquipelago:
The Fernando de Noronha Archipelago is formed by twenty-one islands with a total area of 26 km². The biggest and the main island in the Archipelago that is also the only one inhabited, is called Fernando de Noronha, too.
The remaining islands are located in the area of the National Marine Reserve.
They can only be visited with an official permission of IBAMA (Brazilian Environmental Institute).
The main island´s area is 17 square km. It lies some 545 km away from the coast and has 2,100 inhabitants. A good tourism infrastructure creates a wonderful opportunity to explore and enjoy this magnificent ecological sanctuary.
The main island is 10 km long and 3,5 km wide. Its perimeter is about 60 km. The island is rather uneven and has many hills on its territory, the most important ones are: the Morro do Pico (Peak Mount)-323 m high; the Morro do Espinhaço (Spine Mount) with 223 m of hight; the Morro do Francês (Frenchman Mount)- 195 m high, the Alto da Bandeira (Flag Height) -160 m high; the Morro do Curral (Farmyard Mount) - 126 m hugh; and the Morro de Sto. Antônio (Saint Antony Mount) - 105 m high. For many people, to take a trip to Fernando de Noronha means to make a dream come true. It is here where you get a feeling of being in Paradise!

Bring summer clothes and a pair of sneakers (take a jacket just in case), diving set*, swimsuit, rubber slippers and bathing necessities. Have cash with you as many commercial establishments of the Archipelago do not accept credit cards. This also happens because there is just one bank in the neighborhood.
